Very excited to have my first Strings magazine article published in the upcoming October edition. I received my copies over the weekend so, it’s official! I’ve been working on several more articles over the past few couple of months and thrilled to be sharing my knowledge with a wider audience through this opportunity.
If you are interested in checking out the article and Strings in general, you’ll likely find the magazine at your local music store or violin shop, independent bookseller, and certainly at a larger chain bookstore such as Borders or Barnes and Noble. If you wish to purchase a subscription go to the Strings magazine website. Strings is really the only North American magazine dedicated to stringed instruments (Britain has The Strad) so it’s indeed an honor to be chosen as a contributor.
Look for my article on page 37 - the Strings 101 column. It’s all about discovering a left hand position, and particularly a pinky position, that’s comfortable, strong, and reliable based on your anatomy. I also give ideas for overcoming the fear and hesitation that can hinder good fourth finger technique even despite a great hand setup. Hope you enjoy!
